Language Teaching and Character Building
Character building has become a heated issue in Indonesia lately due to the fact that it is closely related to the quality of education. Education can be considered successful when it can change the students’ behavior and attitude towards life. The current trend towards anarchy, corruption, dishonesty, cheating and irresponsibility among students indicates a failure of education. Therefore, it is high time to rethink of its importance to design character building in language teaching.
The 58th TEFLIN international conference will explore approches, issues and questions related to the character building in language teaching. From this discussion, the result of the seminar can draw out implication for language teaching, learning, testing and translation.
